Cayenne V-8 Class Action Update
Hi Gang
In case you were not aware of this I thought I would post a link to the latest on the 2003-2006 V-8 (including Turbo?) class action lawsuit Settlement Information Apparently does not affect V-6 model |
Has anyone submitted yet?

Don't have the Cayenne anymore but got all the paperwork before we traded it in.
Essentially the deal was $x amount back ($500ish?) if you had already had the issue taken care of at a dealer. If the pipes hadn't been replaced, it was $375 off of the cost of new pipes installed at a dealership. Our dealership wanted about $1800 for the job. Bought the parts kit for $600 + shipping, and a pressure test tool at HF for about $70, so $700ish in parts. Took a friend and myself about 9.5 hours to do it completely. First time for either of us to take a Cayenne down that far. It's really not too hard, though the portion of getting the old pipes out and the new ones in is a giant pain. So knowing the parts cost and the time it takes, the $375 was essentially unusable in our case. If It's a nice bonus for people that had already had it done at a dealer though. |
I submitted but I have not heard back yet, the settlement amount in my case will only be about $375 towards a likely $1800.00 job at the dealer. :(

Received my check from Porsche yesterday. $450. Mine was on a used, non CPO car with pretty high mileage. Not too bad.

Congrats Flintstone!!
Nice to see you got partially compensated. |
I filed a claim years ago on my 29k 2006 Cayenne, tubes did not fail yet and I never heard from them. Since them mine failed and I did the work on my own. Did Porsche do the repair for you?
|
No. Mine is a 2004 Turbo. I took it to an independent. It was not cheap though. Probably almost as much as a dealer. I don't know if the fact that it is a turbo made it any harder to get to the pipes. Unlike my other cars, I generally don't work on the Cayenne much myself other than changing the battery or similar. I filed as an afterthought. Did not expect any compensation.
Mine did fail (was parked after driving to visit a relative and lost all coolant...seems like it was at around 90K miles). I had the car towed about 50 miles so had about a $100 tow bill if I recall as part of the claim. Also fixed a couple of things while in there...but those were not claimed. Just sent in paperwork and receipts via email as directed on the webpage. Car is now at 120K miles and is like new. What a great car. Especially now since gas prices are down. |
Well, I received my letter today from Porsche, it was a denial for my claim since I did not take it to an Porsche dealer for repairs. I bought my entire kit (factory OE + factory lube) at a Porsche swap meet years ago for very cheap, all brand new.
I'm OK with it, I did the work myself and actually enjoyed doing it. It would have been nice to have a check though, I could buy more 911 parts. |
