The Macan Is Going Electric!

But who would be surprised at this point? The Macan only makes 248HP from the inline four, but once we see it electrified we should see the torque excitingly increase! Porsche sold 86,000 Macans last year, which is a third of their P car sales alone. Read their statement below:

The Porsche decision, which will be revealed next Tuesday by the group, shows the carmaker is serious about selling electric vehicles to a mass market.

The all-electric Macan, a sport utility vehicle, will be produced in Leipzig early next decade, the company confirmed to the Financial Times.

Chief executive Oliver Blume said Porsche was aiming for every second car it sold to be “electrified” — pure-electric or hybrid — by 2025, meaning that Porsche’s electric ramp-up is even more ambitious than its parent, the Volkswagen Group.

VW Group is spending €30bn on electrification in the next five years in the hope that one-quarter of its sales will be all-electric by 2025.

More news was released about the all-electric Macan! Sources are saying that the possibility of additional body styles are under consideration for the next-gen, EV-only Macan. When everything goes electric Porsche can't exactly call them "Turbos" anymore since they will no longer have a traditional engine with forced induction.

According to Steiner, a “coupe” version in the same vein as the recently launched Cayenne Coupe is under consideration. Not only that, but Porsche is also analyzing the prospects of a Macan “with more space.” The company official refers to both potential models as being “interesting,” but it’s too soon to say whether either of the two will live to see the production day.
