Help with Cayenne scored cylinder in Toronto
Wondering if anyone can help me find a local shop in Toronto that can help me out.
I have an 08 Cayenne S which developed a ticking noise after a cold startup on one of the coldest winter days a couple years ago. Took to the dealer and was given the diagnosis of having a scored cylinder - ofcourse, they refused to acknowledge there is a systematic problem with these engines in colder climates and instead advised the cause was due to lack of regular oil changes (which I perform every 5k km). My goal is to get the car fixed as cost effectively as possible - so do I rebuild or replace? Also, if I do replace the engine, are there any Cayenne engines that are immune to this defect that would work? I've read about someone swapping in a GTS engine but not clear on the underlying reason for going this route vs a regular 4.8L V8 VinB. I love my Cayenne but if I'm going to go ahead with fixing it, I dont know if I could afford another engine repair down the road so I want to do it right the first time. Thanks in advance for any and all help! |
