Cayenne towing 911 DE car. Anybody?

Thinking getting a 2008-2010 cayenne v6 or S to tow. 2300lb car plus 1400lb trailer.

Any real experience? Extra maintenance? Suspension upgrades? Wear and tear items. MPG?

Thoughts, recommendation, advice?

THANKS.

Tow my Carrera with no worries. Other than hitch and trailer brake, no other mods needed. Obviously MPG suffers, probably around 14 MPG.

The harness was already there when I bought the Cayenne, but from what I have heard, no.

It can be done . . . I installed a factory controller a few years ago.

My pleasure.

I hope it helps someone out. I'm glad I installed a factory unit. It integrated with the dash perfectly

It is a great tow vehicle. The V6 is better than you think and the 7600 lb capacity is largely due to the cayenne awesome brakes.

2009 GTS towing open steel trailer / 944. Tows better than my full size Sequoia SUV. Plenty of power / great brakes. Prodigy p3 controller.

I know for a fact the 2005 Cayennes (V6 3.2, V8 4.5, and V8 Turbo) all had the same towing capacity 7,716 pounds.

A lot more than most SUVs the same size
2006 Lexus RX 330. 3,500 lbs
2005 Chevy Trailblazer 4,800-5,000 lbs
2005 BMW X5 6,000 lbs
2005 Mercedes (V6/V8) 5,000 lbs
2005 Volvo XC 90 4,000-5,000 lbs
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3,500-6,500 lbs. (several engines 3.7l to 5.7l)

I tow a 964 on an open Aluma aluminum trailer with zero problems. 2011 S. I also use a Prodigy RF brake controller for the electric brakes. Had a '05 V8 Touareg before that, no issues.
