transmission fluid change
 

I have rolled up on 120K and its time to change the transmission fluid. The big questions is what type of fluid to use. The Porsche trans fluid is so expensive that the local dealership won't use it. They use Red line D4. Other mechanics say, use Toyota type VI, it the same a Porsche. Does anyone have experience with either of these produces in their Cayenne?

I plan to go with the type IV from the Toyota dealer when I change my trans fluid next week. $7 a quart.

Recently changed mine at 118k while doing the TransGo valve rebuild, and used the Toyota IV (T-4) ..... shifting fine with no problems

How was the transgo process? Anything encountered you didn't expect? Clear instructions included? Seems relatively painless.

followed it to a T. Didn't have to use included directions. Found removing the wiring harness clips at the solenoid to be unexpectedly difficult to remove. Buy lots of paper towels and take your time. Very do able. Eliminated that smack in the back of your head when trans kicks down.

Ps. Buy/use the clamps like he suggest! Make a cardboard template to keep your screws mapped. You will need a magnet. I was nervous grinding off the solenoid ends, take your time and after the first 1 you'll feel much better going forward. They tend to "pop" just when your getting to the end. Again take your time and don't lose the spring.

Looks like I'm going with the Toyota type IV this weekend. Thanks for the advice!
