engine swap 987 to a 986 engine
 
hi my names paul lee iv been trying to get abit off info off anyone relateing to a project im doing by myself
bought a 2004 3.2s boxster had it for year and it cooked both heads as in the valve seats fell out of both heads and were warped
prices second hand engines and they are what the cars worth !!!
so desided to buy a 3.2s engine out of a 986 cheaper with gearbox and wireing and exhausts
also bought ecu keys and decoder box
can this engine work in this 987 and if so what else do i need to do to make it run
looking forward to any info you can give me on the subject thanks

It might be easier with a stand alone ecu as far as using a 986 3.2 into a 987 is beyond my ability.
Hopefully someone will chime in to help you

2004 is a 986 so you shouldn't have to modify anything unless the new engine is older than 2003. Pelican parts has a good engine swap guide on their site.

I am in agreement with Byprodriver, nothing to do but to install motor and maybe transfer wire harness.. But maybe not even that. Do a compare
