It was a long two months but with 3 kids, a wife, a full-time job, and a High School golf coach I tend to get busy in the spring. But I managed to get the front end mostly back together. I got the wrong Turbo tie rods, unfortunately. They're for a standard steering rack and I have a narrow 68 rack. So I will either get extended ends or new toe rods. Unsure yet but I have bigger fish to fry currently. The brakes fit great! I will have to make some small shims to center them on the rotor but that's not a big deal to me at all. It's pretty well time to move on to the rear of the car!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713275862.jpg

Finally! After 192 days on the lift the car is back together and 90% of the fab work is done. The remainder will come when I install the cage.. pretty well every suspension bushing is new/ and or aftermarket, everything has been cleaned and re coated. New e brake system, and brembo big brake kit! The car is getting closer every day!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720537178.jpg

Is the custom transaxle mount 1/4" plate steel or 5/16"?

To be honest I’ve not measured.. I purchased this mount. If I had to guess I would say 1/4”

I’m starting to see the finish line. It’s still in the distance a bit, but my goal is to have the car on the road this month!

Finishing up the brake lines as we speak (literally, took a break to type this up) pedal box is mounted, and im currently finishing up the lines on the passenger front side, then I will be running them all to the masters! Fun fact, I hate trying to figure out all the right fittings, and adapters needed when doing a custom application. However I can’t complain too much. I did this to myself. I can’t wait to feel how it all works!

Water lines from the pump are done, return lines are ran but have to drop the engine one more time to do some welding on the water manifold and to make sure it’s leak free.. that would be annoying to find later!

Hooked the pedals up and fabbed up a bracket to hold my reservoirs. I actually bled the front brakes! I will say, at first it leaked at almost every fitting LOL, we are golden now with pressure up front! New rear rotors on the way and then those will be done as well.

I bent the main hoop for this almost 2 years ago. It hung on the wall until this past weekend. I finally decided it was time to do it. Mind you I have no experience building cages. So if you build racecars for a living Im sorry if this offends you. I quickly realized its not easy MiG welding around tubes with uneven gaps and full 360 degrees while maintaining a good looking bead. However I made sure the heat laid into it. I am also aware this is not DOM tubing. This is .120 wall 1 1/2".. I wont be tracking this car often.. I say often because I would like to take it to a track day here and there. But it by no means will be entered into any kind of race... This structure was for 2 things... I wanted to add some structure to the car due to me having to cut the torsion tube out.. And I also wanted the piece of mind having something protecting me in the event of a rollover.. The base plates are 3/16, welded to the "frame rails". this week I will be finishing up the small hard to get spots to weld, and adding supports that go through the rear seats down to the torsion tubes to help keep those In place. Overall for my first attempt at a cage, Im completely happy with it. Some of the welds dont look the prettiest. But a little sanding and paint will cover that right up.. Props to the men and women that build cages and get those joints completely perfect.. ITS NOT EASY!!!

This thing is sick! Love the work you're doing

YellowBee69 09-10-2024 09:35 AM

She LIVES!! and it absolutely RIPS

Finally after 3.5 years being in my shop, it moves under its own power. Quite well actually!! I figured I would post a few photos here of some of the things I had to do to make the 996 box work, as well as the aftermarket billet pedal box. I plan to make an entire YouTube video covering all these things!

This weekend I took the car to Indianapolis Indiana in hopes of making it to a show. Unfortunately it didn't quite make it, although it was nice catching up with a friend of mine that lives up there ad getting to work on the car together! We actually managed to get the front and back glass in , in just about an hour which I was pretty happy with!

my next one is a 996 g64 gearbox car. keep up the good work!

YellowBee69 09-27-2024 09:16 AM

Well, I hate to say it but since that show I havent really messed with the car a whole lot. I put the bumpers on to see how it looks 100% complete on the outside and I have to say. Im in love!! I picked up some 20mm spacers for the rear to get the fitment right, and am currently waiting on axle spacers to hopefully solve the issue of the axle dislocating. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1727457303.JPG

good looking car

YellowBee69 10-03-2024 06:40 PM

Waiting on axle spacers, and carpet which should be here early next week! Carpet in the car will be a huge change for the car, and I can’t wait… in the mean time I saw a photo of a 993 with a wing similar to mine. His deck lid was blue, and the wing blade was exposed carbon… The look isn’t for everyone but I saw it and immidiately wanted the same look on my car… now, I was risky in having no idea the condition of the wing under the paint. Luckily it all worked out. Lots of paint stripper, razor blades, and 400 grit sand paper brought this carbon back to life!
