Stick with Aircooled or Turbo LS 1991 Turbo

Hey guys, I am in a bit of a crossroads. I am purchasing my passed uncles former race car that was in the process of being converted to a street car before he passed. It is mostly complete with the exception of an ez69 control unit which I can’t find anywhere. Due to this, it is going to need an efi conversion which is costly in itself. A quote for motec was as high as 40k. I am familiar with ls engines and the like and have quite a few friends with performance and tuning shops and saw the Kennedy adapter and renegade racing cradle to mount an ls up. The car has a freshly rebuilt 3.3 but unfortunately the builder passed away recently as well and there are no invoices for the build so we don’t know how much power it can take. I was thinking of possibly selling the 3.3 and doing just a stock bottom and lc9 with a smaller turbo. It would be easier to work on, I could find more shops if anything drastic was needed and cost would be a wash almost if I sold the motor. This will be a forever car and not worried about retaining value or selling as it does not have a clean title. Do you think it would be worth it to just stick the air cooled motor back in or is an ls the smarter choice? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1731698869.jpg

That’s a tough decision…. Personally if the engine has been recently rebuilt I would throw it in and run it till she dies… The only reason I LS swapped mine was because it was a rolling chassis.

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Full install with an emtron system with upgraded turbo, manifolds, intercooler etc was quoted around 30-40k. I would if I knew it was upgraded rods, pistons, head work and could make some power.

Does anyone know the limits of a g50/52 strength wide is with upgraded billet diff cover?

G50 should be good for 500hp without issue.

And I’d keep the 3.3. That’ll be plenty of fun in this car. Plus you’ll lose a ton of value putting a LM LS in a G50 car.

g50/52 is a turbo box and will handle 7-800
