86 911 LS7 Slant Nose conversion LS427 570
Well, you might have seen my:
"89 911 LS1 Conversion" in this forum. Almost 140k views. Crazy. I had also started another car under: "1980 911 SC Slantnose 383 Stroker Conversion" in this forum but I stopped working on that project because the car was not as clean as I wanted and I purchased a tub. It was a clean 86 guards red 911 with a lot of fire damage. But other then the fire damage (which most people would run away from) I decided to use that as my base for this project. All of the fire damage was contained in the interior passenger/driver area/roof. It will start as a 383 because I already have that motor and tranny from the 80SC and it will make things go quicker but I also have a shortened 930 with a guard LSD which I will eventually use. But to use that I might get an LS3 or LS7. I can't use the 930 tranny with the 383 unless I spend quite a bit on new adapter plates, etc so I want to keep that stuff together for future parting or place back in the 80 (in case anyone wants a project)... So here it goes. I've done a lot of sanding to bare metal, cut out the sun roof system, bought a sunroof delete panel and getting ready to install it. I'm not welding it in. My friend, Peter will do it. He just knows these things without blinking.... I already have an 89 narrow body ls1 and love the 80's Slant Nose cars. This one will be loud but have the right look - a stock looking Slant Nose with a rear radiator. I will either use Toy Jet's radiator system again or try a few other thoughts. I still have my originally designed radiator that works well to get this project up an running a little faster. Here are some photos of how I got it: ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is what I hope it to look like one day: ![]() ![]() and here is where it is now... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In time we will see where this goes. Headlights for slant nose
I powder coated these and cleaned them up. I still have to paint the top guards red when its time to paint. New bushings and new washers. I will clean the motor also. I have to powder coat the other headlight. Eventually, I will get led lights.

Looks like a good project! I always loved the slant nose, considered it on my car but I think I’ll miss the torpedo tube! This will be fun to follow

Super cool project again,
When installing the wide body Rear Quarters, are they going to install the wide body first and then rims and tires, or first rims and tired installed and the wide body will be installed base of rim and tire size? |

I already have tires on my 1980 SC body slant nose. That car has the wide 80s slant nose rear quarters. Those quarters are staying on that car from the 80s.. Those wide tires are going to be on my 86 slant nose with very wide rear quarters. I purchased a set of rear quarters and front fenders from a slant nose that are going on the 86. They appear to be the same width so I am assuming the tires will fit perfectly so the quarters are going on first and then I will put the tires on. Hope that makes sense.

Yan,
keep up the good work. I have been sidetracked helping cisco rebuild the server at the shop of the guy from whom I rent my shop. I installed the entire network at the new shop a couple years ago, but had others do the server and phone system programming. I was a router/switch/firewall guy. so during this outage mainly doing the physical stuff such as swapping the drives. finally got his system recovered late yesterday. going there again this morning to clean up the mess..... and probably go buy a 2-4 TB network storage to back everything up. he is NOW receptive to spending the money needed to secure his system.... he really dodged a bullet here. and still working on finishing the 951 motor. I'll get back to my 911 soon. started discussion with Dennis (Timmy2) about building my wiring harness. ![]()

AC Hose removal
Finally doing a little work on my project. Removing all of the AC lines. I know I will have AC when done but the lines are in the way and having the car on the rotisserie makes it very easy to remove them. It will make it easier to remove some of the fender seals/undercoating seam seal. I will put new sealer where the fenders attach to the body eventually... This is all prep work for body related stuff. Not sure what interesting ways I will cool this monster but most likely different than all you folks. Got to be different.

radiator thoughts
What do you think about 2 aux radiators on the left and right side of the engine compartment. Drill holes for air flow/fan into the wheel well areas? There is room for small radiators laying horizontal in each wheel well also. Would need some shroud to keep the wheel dirt off the radiators. Just a thought. Still doing body related stuff but just checking to see what the techno guys think.

Yan,
do you mean added to the rear deck lid radiator? or just go with fender radiators? one issue I realized when considering little radiators behind each rear fender vent, have hoses going back and forth connecting them. my plan is still 3 radiators in the front behind a 934 valance.... too many distractions lately so no work on the 911. almost ready to put the 951 motor back in, as soon as I get the new AC compressor....

Bob it would be in addition to a rear deck lid I think... the reality is it all comes down to square inches so depending upon where I am. As long as there is no Vortex of air that can't get to the spal fans to cool the radiators I believe every square inch should really help if I have some extra ones. It all works fine with one radiator in the rear with a stock ls1 but if you go to an LS7 or high horsepower you need some additional Cooling.

and that is why I plan the 3 radiators up front. and if that is not enough I can add a deck lid radiator.

Bob, I found a great article on how to cool an LS7 if mounted in the front. A guy was able to drop his temp to like 210 degrees while racing on a 100 degree day. There is a little rocket science in it.

Yan,
read that article. if I was doing my radiators the 'renegade' way, this would be good info. but I plan for 3 vertical radiators right behind the openings on the 934 valance. Air will have a straight shot at the radiators, then get diverted down (center radiator) and out into the wheel wells (side radiators). but dont hesitate to send more info. something may fit my plan... got my new clutch disc and AC compressor for the 951 engine. hope to finish it and get the car rolled into the shop to reinstall the motor.

DP40 prep
Spent the day spraying dp40 and getting the car a little further down the line... First time spraying anything. I was a little nervous to say the least. Now its like second nature.
