Karmann Ghia/912
I put a '67 912 in a 73" Ghia convertible. Does anyone know who might make an early Porsche single exit exhaust that I could use for this application similar in design to the VW performance headers, but with larger diameter tubing? The 912 came with a Bursch exhaust, but it would not fit behind the Ghia. We modified a VW exhaust to fit for the time being. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I almost did the same with my '68 912 and 71 Ghia vert. Do you hvae any pics?
From all of the conversions that I have seen, a VW system was made to fit the 616. I was going to adapt a VW header until I had something custom made. As cheap as VW headers are, thats the route I would take. I didn't get around to finding who sold the the ex. manifold pieces from the 616(the piece that bolts to the heads). Keep me posted. Bryan |

I have a 356 book that has a diagram on where to cut and weld a stock 616 muffler so it(and the engine) can fit into a Bug.
I could email you a scan if you like. |
