Exhaust and Heat Exchangers

Does anyone have a practical solution for making functional heat exchangers for a type IV equipped bug or ghia? I know Reichert has them, but they're too pricey for me.

There are a number of aftermarket manufacturer that sell modified type4 heat exchangers for use on a Bug or Ghia.
I'm not sure how different the type 4 heat exchangers are, but if a person wanted to they probably could even weld up a set themselves combining the type4 units with your stock ones.

Who are some of the aftermarket manufacturers? Reichert is the only one I am aware of.

What type of fan are you running? If you are runnig an upright conversion like the next generation with heater holes in the fan shroud use T-4 bus heater boxes I think the ones you want are 72-74 The ones you are looking for have the 4 bolt flange with 2 exhaust tubes. you will shorten them, but it really isn't a big deal. And in a ghia you don't have to take off that much material. Oh also will have to run an aftermarket bus header or hack and weld the crap out of a stock muffler
