wheels
the porsche guys didn't know on this one last time i asked them, so i thought maybe the VW guys would know... I have a set of wheels on my 914 that have a shelby centercap, they are grey semi chrome wheels with a polished ring, they have an "X" or "+" shape to them. they say "shelby viper" on the inside of the wheel. any ideas? or do you need pictures?

Don't know if this will add any more information to what you already know. I have a set of alloy wheels on my '69 Bugwith the words "Shelby Cobra" and the rim size cast into the back. These wheels are five spoke, semi-polished wheels. I do not have matching center caps. I have seen a few sets on beetles in the magazines and sets on older US made cars (ie vans, mustangs, a Pinto, etc...).
Best I can figure, these were made in the late sixties or early seventies. Most wheels I have seen have been kinda narrow (7" at most). Mine are 13x6 and 14x9.5 (a real pain to find decent tires for). I have asked a lot of people and nobody seems to know about these wheels. |
