911 motor into a Ghia???????????

Does anybody know of a sucessful installation of a 911 motor (2.0L, 2.2L) into a Karmann Ghia. Is it possible without alot butchering? Most likely there would be a clearance issue with the decklid and upright cooling fan. But would it, could it, or can it fit??? I remeber seeing pictures of a bug years ago, but the engine compartment was extended and it looked a little strange.

Thanks

Don't bother.

anything can be done given enough money. You can put a 911 engine in a ghia, but the end result will be costly and ugly. I saw a VW van with a 911 engine fit into it, but in order to get it to fit in the engine bay the rear wheels were movved forward 8 inches, which looked really ugly, I 've heard of it being done in a bug, but the engine bay had to be extended several inches, again very ugly.
My suggestion is, save your money and build a hot type4 motor, it'll be cheaper than a 911 motor, and if its t6he look you want, go with the 911 style cooling shroud.
you can tell everyone you have a 911 engine in your Ghia and they just might believe you.

For the same amount of money or less you can put a hot 914/type4 engine in your Ghia, and end up with more power (depending on how hot the engine is) and it'll look better when done.

my 2cents
