type 4 911

am i right in assuming a t4 motor will bolt
behind my 901 trans that is in my 911e the
same way it would in a 912? i tore down my
911 looks pretty beat, and even if it isnt i
would be looking at 2500 or 2x or 3x that to
rebuild it. i have got enough t4 parts to
put together a motor. i have done a few t1s
and i hear the t4 is a much better motor..
reading the posts on this board you people
have a great deal of knowledge about these
things. any advice would be appreciated.
thanks in advance. bruce..
the t4 parts i have are 914 2000 .
any carb recommendations the only carbs i have that micht work are weber 32/36's..

Based on my previous 911 engine rebuilt experience, it was a lot of years ago and was very expensive. if you have most of the t4 parts from a 914 2000, you are in luck; particularily the 2.0 heads, block and inside components; insure that all components are miked for specs, select a good machine shop for your heads and block,a milder/stronger cam and of course new pistons/cylinders; if you are using carburation you should get 40 or higher webers/dellortos. I owned a 2.0 914 w/F.I. and ran strong w/very good gas mileage. a friend went wild on a t4 cam and it was drinking gas like a Hemi V8. Good Luck!

You will need a 914 flywheel of course to work with the 901. The T4 and Bus application flywheels aren't deep enough to work with the 901 transaxle.

thank you for the advice, and info. I might
give some thought about trading motor, I just
tore top end apart. it ran ok before i pulled it but i figure not knowing history
of motor and what parts cost it would be
wise to do so. I will keep you all posted
and probly have many more ?? thanks again
