anybody here? p-tranny on a vw?

Doesn't appear to be much trafic here, But I'll post anyway.

I have a 1969 VW/bradley GT2 that weighs 1700lb and has a highley modded 1.6 that has evolved into a ~232hp 2200cc engine, but with stock 69 VW gearing. It's fun to shread tires with but I want taller gears so I can exceed 65mph before reaching excessive RPM. Any P trannies or gears that will interchange for better top end? Also, most of the motor is brand new, not even 500 miles on the rebuild oil, but my dual point mallory needs new points. Where can I get performance distributor stuff for this thing?

The 911 tranny will go in fairly easily, check out this site: http://www.callook.org and go to the tech article section, in there is a whole article by steve Arndt about the entire process, I'm installing a 914 transmission and 944 suspension rifht now, just as soon as I get the IRS conversion finished (this week hopefully).
Later
