Fitting 3.2 engine + Gearbox to VW Transporter
I am looking at fitting a 3.2 engine and gearbox to a VW transporter, 1999 model, any tips or links to what is required in terms of components and engineering would be most welcome- is it better to use the VW box with adapter, or to fit the Porsche transmission?
Any tips on suspension modifications to accommodate the Porsche box if used? |
I'm not sure if a 3.2 will mate-up with a VW box. 2. to 3. liters will mate up. I would use the Porsche box (if I had a choice). You wont have to work out the clutch/pp. problem and you know it will handle the power.
I'm sure you saw the video where someone is racing a transporter(with a Porsche engine) and laping a 993(or something to that effect). Those guys might be able to give you some help. There is a guy on www.volksrods.com (hepster 52, I think thats his handle) thats putting a 2.7 into a early DC (w/ a VW trans i might add). He is friendly and he might be able to help you. try www.germanlook.com www.shoptalkforums.com www.thesamba.com I know its a common swap to use a Suby in transporter but some of the people doing those swaps might be able to lead you in the right direction. Good luck |
Thanks, will check it out
