Vw 914 aka 1303rs

Hello. I saw this thread and thought I would share my 73 super beetle with you. This beetle has been Porschefied. Exterior is signal yellow with a curves ahead arrow over the hood and roof. It has wider fiberglass fenders front and rear and a lower front spoiler and a duck tail out back. The engine is a 914 2.0 that has been pumped up to a 2.4 with 150hp. It has a Porsche fan kit and 45 dellortos. The suspension has the adjust a strut kit up front with a 7/8 sway bar and strut bar. The rear has a sway bar and CSPs torque bar kit. The brakes and steering are 914. The interior has a vw/914 dash with 914 gauges. The front seats are super beetle sports and the rear are 911 rear backrests. the interior is covered in suede, vinyl, and Porsche Pasha. The headliner has an arrow like the roof. I did the interior myself as I own an auto upholstery shop. I designed and built the car but did not build the engine or paint the car. I drive this car as much as possible it is NOT a trailer queen.

I bet that is a fast little car, plenty light, more straightforward to do than you would think. Too bad the link is dead.

After much soul searching I have decided to sell my bug of 23 years. Here is a basic outline,

Body,
Signal yellow with arrow over hood and roof
wide fenders front 2" rear 3"
front spoiler
rear duck tail
356 hood handle
356 tail lights with euro lenses
driving lights

Engine
type 4 with 150 hp and 160 ftlbs. torque
911 fan/alt conversion
external oil cooler/fan
45 dellorto carbs
18 gal aluminum gas tank

suspension/wheels
15x8 fuchs rear
15x6 cookie cutters front
914 disc brakes front and rear
914 rack and pinion
adjust a strut front struts
rear CSP torque bars
7/8 front sway bar
rear sway bar

Interior
914 gauge pod and gauges
73 super beetle sport seats
911 rear seat backrest
rear seat cushion delete
"arrow" in headliner
Materials
PORSCHE NOS Pasha cloth
ultra suede
Alante vinyl
red stitching
German square weave carpet

This is great running car 70-85mph all day. At 100mph it is very steady with more to give. Tons of torque. Along with being a great running car it has won its class at several VW shows as well. THIS CAR IS A ONE OF A KIND HEAD TURNER wherever it goes. I am selling it to buy another Porsche and dont have the room for three cars. I will consider trades/cash, 87-89 944t or 69-94 911. No cabs or targas. If you have any questions or want more pics please ask. This car can not be duplicated at this price.

It will be in Irvine, CA June 11th thru 13th for the VW Classic for anyone to see if it has not sold yet.

Selling price $20,000 ORO

Shame you are selling it, great looking car, it is probably a hoot to drive. I don't know that you will get your asking price, good luck

So I just found out that I won my class at the VW Classic in california last month. Thats 3 for 3 this summer. Won the Phoenix Bug In, Copper state, and now The Classic. Just goes to show that a true driver can win shows and it doesnt have to be a trailer Queen.

Im done with VWs for awhile. Time to focus on my Porsches. Maybe later I'll do another bug, Mmm maybe not. Been there and done that. Too many other cars in life to enjoy. After 24 years of owning that one and many others, I dont miss it a bit.
