944 Turbo swap
okay i got a 85 944 non turbo and this guys told me he'll sell me his 86 944 turbo the back end is messed so i was thinking of swapping his turbo motor into mine my question is can it be done? what do i all need to swap it out? and can i bolt the turbo motor to my trans? his clutch is burnt out so was thinking of just using my stock one or if anything save up for a bad ass clutch any help would be appreciated thanks

Is this a early 85 or late 85? The early body may not have the provisions to mount things like the air cleaner, air charge cooler and heat shields. Also, the NA clutch can't hold the power of the Turbo engine. As far as I can see you should be able to bolt the whole thing into your 85 with no issue as long as it is a late model. An early body could cause you some grief, but the project should still be doable. Early or late, the motor will definitely bolt to your torque tube. If you have a late 85, definitely swap in the turbo breaks. The front coil springs are also a little heavier on the turbo to handle the extra weight.

You will also have to do a little re-modeling to have the Inter-cooler to fit - The cross brace flat metal going under the area of the IC will have to be modified to lower the front of the IC so it will fit under the Front Nose Panel.
