914 for dunebuggy
I may be wrong, but years ago I saw a dunebuggy (vw beetle chassis) with a mid-engine, and transmission behind the wheels. I was told it was a 914 conversion. That is, a 914 powertrain mounted on a Beetle chassis.
My question is: Can that conversion be easily done? It may require quite a bit of cutting and welding. But the conversion is great: You get a 5-speed transmission, and a mid-engine car. |
Hello
Jups had seen something about that. I think the links could be found over: http://shoptalkforums.com/bbs/cgi-bin/?action=intro&BypassCookie=true This one is a hit for sure;) http://www.dunegoon.org Grüsse |
Roland:
Thanks for the info. I checked the second website, however, they seem to use a fabricated chassis. I am interested in the stock VW Beetle chassis with a Porsche 914 power train. |
I don't know how the conversion is done for the complete powertrain conversion. but I stuck a 2.0 liter 914 engine into my dune buggy. Car was too fast for me. No sense of safety in that little fiberglass body. Kept it for a year then sold it.
