I’m literally swapping in a Subaru 2.5 into my 912e right now.

I considered both building the current VW bus engine up to about 150 hp, and that would have cost close to $20,000 to do it reliably. A rebuild kit alone is $10,000 for the T4.

Also considered buying a building a Porsche -6, cheapest route there would have been a core 2.7 for $7000, and assuming it’s even buildable, another $15,000 in parts and machine work, and $3000 for oil lines, tanks, etc. That’s spending $25,000 for an engine in a car worth $30,000, makes zero sense.

So I opted for a built Subaru 2.5 normally aspirated. That will be about 210 hp, less weight than the original T4. I’m going to a super period correct look, with custom hidden radiators in the fenders. Shoot me a PM if you want some more info.

I will send you a pm. I have considered the Subaru swap but without the turbo I only saw 165hp so 200 will be perfect for my 912.
