3.0 in 996

Anyone ever swap a 3.0 cis in a 996?

why? oh.. for the noise and decreased power?

Maybe the translation of the question should be -- For the typical 996 with a dead engine what is the cheapest solution to get the thing mobile again ?

are you thinking to do that?

There are more and more really nice 996's turning up dead. Ducking now to avoid the flying cr*p, they do have a kit out to install a LS motor. a 5.3 Al LS engine would be a cheap way to make a quick daily driver that still handled better than any Toyo out there.

I've never seen it done. It's your money- do what you want, but I sure would be easier to find a used 996 engine. Good luck.

If you want a project, the LS motor swap by Renegade is a good one, however it's not a plug and play and it will end up costing you more money than repairing your 996 engine. I did it because I wanted a project and something different, you'll need to write a lot of checks or have professional talents in metal fabrication, electrical that might be beyond your pay grade. That's not to say that the final product isn't terrific.

If you're real unhappy with your 996 motor, have the time and money to do it right you'll be rewarded.
