911 swappers - what has it been like? Opinions

I am looking for swap info. I have lurked on 944/68 engine swap boards for 3-5 yrs and have owned a 944 lt1 rh kit. Wasn't done well and was only a 944s, I didn't like the look. Wife didn't like the whole car, so it left. Found my perfect car 968, ls1 swap, 12k, with a 5k motor and needed a few things. Lost my job so that deal was sent overseas.

Anyway, now I am looking at 944 swaps, mainly cause wife likes the look, happy wife and all. Ok ok I like the 911 look too. Anyway, there seem to be way less info on 911 swaps vs the 944 swappers.

If you have one, how many Kms have you put on it and what type of teething issues have you had?

My ideal car would be a summer only 2-3 days a week when weather is nice or maybe even to work, then when track opens, a hpde toy. Not searching for lap times, have kids so back seats will be required but I can deal with that.

I am not blessed with time with kids, but they are getting older. But I am also only a bolt on bolt off guy. I doubt I would drop an engine. Unless it was electric or less than 300lbs. Too much hassle and I am not competent enough.

I'm not done mine yet, but its been a lot of work, a steep learning curve, but super fun and rewarding at the same time.

I'm in the process of a swap. So far I've leaned to weld, create a wiring harness, modify fuel rails, and take the engine in and out 3 times. I still need to fab the exhaust and cooling system. I have learned a lot but it is a lot of work. Based on your post I'm not sure I would recommend this to you. If you like to tinker and learn it's a great experience.
