911 targa renegade ls swap thread.

Hey guys I've been closely reading all of your threads for your conversions and have picked up a lot of great info. I have a few questions on mine that I have an idea but want to make sure before I start and do it wrong.

1 could someone weigh in on basically how the coolant system is run in the back. I have the electric water pump in line thermostat and the distribution block and expansion. I have the coolant lines ran through the heat exchangers already. From what I gathered from the explained inlets and outlets the pump goes in line from rad to the motor. I know how the coolant flows in the bottom holes and out the top. It's mostly the distribution and expansion take that I'm not 100% on.

2 does anyone have a list of what needs to be wired in he wire harness. The manifold is reversed and I want to make a list of what I need to wire. I'm probably going to locate the ecu in the motor bay so no need for expansion.

Thanks a lot for any help!

Ls1 should flow heads to block in stock form.... Not like the good ole 350 going the other way, also cooling over engine vs front of car boosts intake air temp severely wounding the desired timing curve, but there is always a way where there is a will to do it...

Hey, im actually the one who picked up your tank and rad which by the way was awesome thanks a lot! I have the coolant lines run from the back to the front via the heat exchanger tubes. My question mostly is how the coolant is run in the rear. Ex: how the reservoir , log , and pump is run. Thanks a lot on the input for the flow. The motor is a lq9 which should be the same as the ls which makes more sense. Thanks!

I suggest buying the kit from Renegade.

I'm also very interested in what your total weight and corner weights end up being using the LQ9. My understanding is that it's 50-70 lbs heavier than the aluminum LS engines. That would make it equivalent to the Porsche motor except that you have more accessories for the v8.

I'm using Evans Coolant. It's not water based and doesn't expand as it heats. This means I have no expansion tank to worry about.

If you're running the coolant lines through the rockers you're going to have air entrapment issues. Use a pressurized filler and put vent stopcocks where the hoses cross the gas tank.

I ran mine under, but it looks crappy. I may switch to your method, but right now I just want it running.

Hey thanks a lot for the tips. Ill look into the stop cocks. Running through the rockers was surprisingly easy and I was afraid with the roads around here that id snag a line if it was under. I'll definitely get weights once it's finished but most of the body is going to be composite so it will skew it a tad. I actually do have the entire renegade kit but with no instructions I want to double check the placement of the distribution block, res, pump and y pipe before I cut hoses
