10K 911S? Yeah I know...but look!

Looks real...but is it? (almost gone...sale pending)

1975 911S Targa. 60K miles one owner. All history plus original invoice. Always garaged, weekend driver. Price: 10K

https://maine.craigslist.org/cto/d/porsche-911s/6748450496.html

Only possible red flag aside from price...that car is located in Mass, with Maine CL listing/contact phone #.

...hmmmm

And also for sale -as a '74 - at some time in Vacaville, CA. And this ad at least shows a VIN.

1974 Porsche 911S Rust Free, original interior, rebuilt motor, NO RESERVE!!!!!!!

Must have taken itself on a CA sabbatical during those 40 years of original ownership - and lied about its age

I call BS on the 911S. The sport seats alone are worth ~5K

Yep, That's an old add from Randy Brinsly(sp?) on here regurgitated into a scam add.
The pictures of his cars are all in that spot of his driveway.

I remember when he had it listed. It’s exactly how my 75S would look if it weren’t a rough turd.

There is a Maine phone number with the add. So school me, how does the scam work? If I called them and told them I wanted the car what's my risk?

Next step is they try to get you to send a deposit to hold it until you can see it. If you start asking questions they just go silent. They are looking for the guy scared of missing a deal.

White 74 Targa on NE CL

There is also a white '74 Targa all over the Northeast Craigslist city sites. I responded the first day it was on and got one of those " I am posting it for my for my sister who is going through a divorce , blah blah blah , and it's at a shipping company who is handling the sale...blah blah blah.." .....

Sport seats are not even in the car when you look at the side shot of the car. At least the seats in the Vacaville ad show the correct seats

So...is the mention that the car has now been "sold" a tipoff for the rest of us that the perpetrators of this scam have finally given up...or maybe they've gotten enough deposits to decide to cut and run before getting caught?

I bet most people thought it was real because it was a Targa.

"Ahhhh, it's just an old Targa from '75 which is arguably the worst year anyway, $10K is not such a bargain."

If you're going to scam, maybe go with something more desirable. And that's coming from a guy that owns a '75 S Targa.

I have a "Barn fresh" 550 spyder, but it needs fresh gas and a "tune up". It belonged to my eccentric uncle, who recently passed. I just need enough to cover his "final expenses".
Too many quotation marks? Please send me as many $5k deposits as you like. I will have it shipped to your door at my expense. If for any reason you don't like it, I will refund your money, no questions asked.

I think the ‘Sold’ might be another way to push buttons.

You contact them and they tell you the buyer is struggling to come up with the money.

He has had so many people interested and doesnt want to have to trawl through them all again.

How about you just send him the full amount before the end of day tomorrow (when the other buyer promised to have their cash together) and they will sell the car to you, as you sound like the sort of person that he wanted the car to go to in the first place...

Hook line and sinker...

Aside from it being a scam the car is brown but the rocker and hood are red.

Yeah, Nathan already pointed out the seats are in a different car.
