Scammers with Zero Posts
Lately I have gotten many private messages from “people” with Zero posts wanting more pics and info on cars or parts I am selling..... seems very odd... I think they want a lot more pics so that they can list the car or part on Craigslist or other sites..
I tell all of them to send me a phone number and email and I will contact them. It just seems odd.... be careful |
Please send myself or any other Mod/Admin a PM with their username and we'll take immediate action.
Thanks. |

I just came across this exact scenario. User name is "north911turbo". Said he wanted to by my car and needed all my info. He has a Connecticut phone number and email is jsonparr@gmail.com. I see his profile now says "banned". So, he has been stopped already? Since it involves two different states, I'm reporting it to the FBI. Here is his profile:

Dude you posted an ad for a 911 and I PM'd you like 3 times and you refuse to answer me. I've given you my phone number and work email address.... Why am I a scammer if I joined this forum so I can PM you about a car you're trying to sell?!?
|
Which one of us is "Dude"? I don't know you.... How many of us use the term "dude" when contacting someone about an expensive car?
|
dude, FBI?!...

I guess I use the word “dude” and other colloquial terms, and I’m also a real buyer with real money, a professional doctor, married. I didn’t read in the classified ad that to PM a seller on here I needed to be “vetted” or that there was certain ettiqute, especially after I was termed a “scammer” simply because I’m new to this forum. This is the most unwelcome I’ve ever felt in a car community, online or in person.
In more positive news, the seller, whom I referred to as dude (which was not meant to be pejorative btw so no offense meant on my end using that term), I was provided a telephone number where I can speak to the owner and see if his car is the right fit for me. I hope I end up in my first Porsche whole and he sells his car to a happy new owner, whether myself or someone else. End rant, and I’ll do my best to treat you all with respect and kindness. |

Dude! Is that Jeff Bridges in your living room?

Just so people don't think this is a joke thread. The scammer posted my car on a different website and is (trying) to collect deposits. The police said to report it to the FBI (internet crime center). Everyday, I learn a little more about this guy. He has my personal info including my ssn. I know his name and address.
Here's the ad he posted: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1549047481.JPG |
I appreciate the levity guys. Kind of a jarring introduction to the Porsche community here. I assure you all I am a real "person" and not a "scammer." Thankfully I was able to get contact info via PM now after being vetted. Rock on, dudes :)

Don't know how he got my SSN. But, I'm not done with him yet
|
Your SSN is not safe. Mine is out there. Once they get a account number or credit card number it’s game on.
I’ve been hacked and change all my account numbers every couple of years now. Effin sucks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This does seem to be a tougher internet community than most. Most new members here are viewed with caution, like they’ve got alterior motives. Hopefully not every new member nowadays is a scammer, because we all had zero posts at one time.
