Not a flip. The same seller on Pelican was trying to sell their car on BaT but it didn’t meet reserve. Looks like they have owned it for years.

Not only is the seller the same, he built the car and its truly an amazing car. I read the thread on the motor last night and I was really impressed with the owner/builder's knowledge, skill and attention to detail. All day long I have been playing the justification game with myself about buying the car. My biggest sticking point is that I don't have the knowledge and skill to address anything should it fail. The overall attention to detail, the choices he made with regards to every system on the car are incredibly well researched, engineered and executed. I am just not sure I can justify spending that kind of money on the car, not that its not worth it. On a one off car like this you need someone with far superior skills than I to be able to work on the car should something go wrong.

So many 'Gram'-able but in reality average 911's do well on BAT. But when something simple, beautiful and seemingly very well engineered appears it fails to meet reserve.

Agreed on why it didn't go for more on BAT. I see backdates with far less build quality fetching more at times. Not to mention the monster engine in this.

911SauCy: I appreciate you keeping your eye out for flippers. I think they should all be banished to Patmos, where they will live out remaining years in Porsche servitude. They can adjust valve lash on #6 and remove interior floor tar.

Surprised it did not sell? For what, $100K? For not much more you could buy a real 930 that was always a 930 and not a Turbo motor stuck in a SC chassis. I believe the price of $68K was more than fair. I would have let it go at that.

Agreed, and if I had the $$$ for that car, I would remove the drivetrain and use it in a Turbo chassis and then resell the rest of the car as a roller (to someone that likes all that longhood, anorexic body, backdate stuff).

I dunno. A not dissimilar car sold this week. Don’t know what it sold for but the asl was $90k and it only took 10 days to sell. I doubt it was discounted much.

What I don’t understand is that even if this was an attempted flip what would be the harm in it? Don’t we all “flip” some sort of skill, labor or product into a profit? To be honest I wish I had the money to buy this car and tweak a few things and throw it back on BAT after fixing what I think is why it didn’t reach closer to $100k and make $15k for my time, trouble and investment of $80-85k.

Because some of these vintage car peeps get confused about the reality that these are just cars, after all, and not the cure for cancer that someone is trying to fraudulently take credit for (and then sell for above market value).
