Exactly^

Airbags aren't bad to replace, just have to make sure buckles and belts are replaced as well if they went. As well as the SRS modules etc.

So to be clear it didnít total because of the airbags deploying. It totalled because the cost to replace the airbags and repair the car exceeded their threshold. So unless you want to build a track car without airbags you will be upside down and have a salvaged title to boot. Used airbags are NOT an option

Yes, I know exactly why they total the car. And like Instame said, people still rebuild S title cars with ďusedĒ airbags all the time. Until we have consistency from state to state, people can fix and flip S title cars below the radar. Itís a shady world out there and not everyone lives by the rules you follow with your legitimate business.

Car's perfectly fine without an airbag.

It's the industry which says otherwise.

No airbag in this 964 unless it's inside that horn button, maybe that's it.

This proves that itís not needed? Either way previous discussion about salvaged cars and deployed airbags was not about cars from the 90s itís referencing more modern cars that are being bought at auction fixed and flipped not a classic air-cooled porsche.

The majority of those who purchase such a car are likely older aged, fat fuuucks, so they provide their own air bag equivalents, just above the waist (side air bags, too!).

Car runs fine without one. Why do you claim otherwise ? I've no issue buying one if the industry types don't get in the way.

Here's a 996 looking much better without the airbag.

^^^

With very few exceptions, Porsche has shown for decades that they are unwilling to hire a steering wheel designer who is either blind, always stoned, or both (aka - they make ugly farkin steering wheels - some of the worst ever put on a car).

To me, the worst Porsche wheel of all time, and an easy candidate for ugliest steering wheel ever made, regardless of make and model, is the loaf of bread centered in a hula hoop version used throughout the 1980s (they even used that bisch in the 959!). When I bought my car, I was not familiar with those steering wheels, and when I saw it, instantly thought, "You've got to be shiitin' me!".

Latering that was my first mod - replaced it with a Mod 07 and sold the delivery truck wheel on eBay. Second mod was to later the rear wiper assembly (also sold off) - a man's car should not have something borrowed from a mini van on it!
