No power bill hammerage for me as I'm on a fixed Kw/h rate plan (the variable rate plan peeps are the ones that really got did).

That is coincidental Ronnie. All kinds of feminine names here, for instance I've had students in the last two years, one Sakumi vs another Aguri. I wanted to say something a few times to the former, say repeat her name, yet I refrained.

Saki is quite the talent. She doesn't suck at her craft in any way, shape or form. I like her in concert best when her personality comes into play. It's quite sensual, if not seductive. If those Japanese could produce a dachi waifu like her, even at 10K or more, it would be tempting...

I live 40 miles from (arguably) the greatest city in the world. Cell service is horrible and we lose power at least 4 times a year. You learn quickly about the value of generators.

I think I mentioned I bought a used Denyo generator for 270,000 yen ($2,500). It's like new with only 1,110 hours. High quality, Japanese, 3 phase, but it runs on diesel. Just on idle it will run single phase all day long, or all night long 24/7.

Live in the suburbs 20 miles from Sacramento.
The heat waves overload our grid. Too much solar and when the sun goes down the system cant keep up. Green Energy...
I'll be adding a whole house Generator soon.

don't expect you've heard much about the biggest utility (electric & gas) here in CA PG&E and it's recent policy to shut power down during high wind events usually during late summer/fall when off shore winds are high, fuel load moisture and humidity are low. they for the last 20+ years have been collecting from customers and putting very little money back into infrastructure maintenance instead paying huge bonuses to their executives. after a particularly destructive fire in Paradise CA (check out "fire in paradise" on frontline if you have an hour to kill) and others that have caused them to be sued they've decided power shutdowns are necessary. it sucks biggly.

it's not just the shutdowns which can last a couple days, but the inefficient line inspections post wind event that can be as long as another 2 days before power is restored. PG&E is trying to catch up now with tree trimming and replacing older poles and such but i think their current methods are here to stay in regards to shutdowns. they were better this year in getting the inspections done in 20 than they were in 19, but im on a grid that is one of the last restored cause it has to be physically inspected and not from the air by copter.

ive met with and will be meeting with a second installer today regarding a generac and have found that getting a unit is months out. Lowes website says mid june, and the installers can't do much better. when you say soon im starting to get things in place for next fall now in getting one installed.

ive got a 4500W gas powered unit in place that is tied into the breaker box so i can in theory power anything in the house but pretty much run it for the fridge, lights in the evening, TV, well, and propane tankless water heater. i can't run the oven, dryer, or other large draw items effectively. fortunately my well has a variable speed pump that only has a 5 gal pressure tank that draws lightly during house usage. if i had a single speed pump and the larger 80 gal pressure tank the 220V draw would be too much for the generator i have.

was not affected by the recent rolling blackouts thankfully, but the worst thing about the power shutdowns here is freakin COMAST only has battery back up that last about 6 hours so once the power is out no TV or internet. after the last outage i got a small DVD player i will use in the evenings. may have to see if raw can send me a stack of his porn collection on DVD. sanitized of course
