996 core engine value

Hoping the forum can help me determine a value of this blown 3.6 engine. It came with a 2002 996 I bought as a roller and it's been sitting on this pallet ever since. Clearly major damage to at least one cylinder.

Should I sell as-is or try to part it out?

Thanks for your advice.

Depends on how it let loose, but if there’s metal in the oil:

Intake: $700-1200
Rest: $0.

The cost to refurb case, crank, heads, etc from any level of damage is usually less than the secondary market value of the parts.

I’ve blown up two m96 3.6 motors over the past five years. One was an IMS and the other a rod thru the bottom of the case. Both instances the motor was shut down within 5 seconds of the damage and in both cases the motor (aside from intake) was a total loss.

M96’s motors are pure, unadulterated hot garbage. I’m on #3 right now and I’ve aggressively detuned it hoping for some life. This one’s at 20 hours; the other two made 4 hours and 25.
