Need advice on my Father's car.
So I've own my Father's 88 911 Cab for the last 7 years.
He bought it brand new in 88, and I love it. But I haven't driven it in about 2 years, and have neglected it most of the time I've owned it. Mostly because I've had two 964 coupes take up most of my time. It's been sitting in his Garage for the last two years taking up his space in his garage. Unfortunately I do not have the room for it at my place. He's given me the green light over the years to sell it, but I haven't had a real reason until now. I would like to build a house and a lot has just been offered to me. I am some what sentimental to it. But nothing crazy.. My kids didn't know it existed until last weekend. -Should I sell? -Should I sell as is? -Should I fix it up a bit? (Clean it, tune up and make it a good driver) -Is even worth selling for what I would get for it? Not sure what would it be worth? Good runner. G50 Trans. dunkelblau with linen interior. Any advice would be awesome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() *Strange shadows on the rocker* |

I have the same comment as on Rennlist. How can it be not worth selling? I don't understand how's that even a question.

Just a shot in the dark, but I bet you could get &40k or close in under a week if you just washed it and made sure the tank was full and battery charged.

Judging from that door sill, that car has some serious rust issues. $40K might be a real stretch.

I'm planing on getting it on a lift in the next couple weeks if not sooner. I would like to a good sense of the car. I don't want hide anything from a potential buyer. |

Interested to see the underside. It’s a cab. They all rust in the sills. The fact that pretty light carpet isn’t all rotten and water stained is what makes me think it’s still pretty solid.

Going to do some odds and ends and go over the entire thing and go from there. still don't know what a fair price would be. Might get a bunch of stuff together and see what BAT has to offer. Everything is still up in the air. |

Post the pictures and details here as you learn more. good eyes and expert advice here. You may even sell it via PM without ever having to go to BAT. Part of it depends on what kind of person you are. I hate selling cars. And on nostalgic things I’m a pull the bandaid off it guy. So my input comes from a “if you’re gonna sell his car, just do it” attitude. You need some cash for something important and this is an asset you can move quickly if you want.

That cab isn't worth anywhere close to $40k, and they do not all rust in the sills.
$35k will buy a nice '88 Cab without any rust and mechanical needs. |

Still here

The rust's gonna kill the value. Highly doubt you will come out ahead fixing it up "a bit".

These cars are undervalued. If there's a sweet 88 Cab around for $35K, you'll steal it at that price.

I would caution you lifting a cab with rusty sills. If there is that much visible rust, I would really take a close look before I put it on a lift. They don’t all rust there. It’s not like an early non galvanized chassis. Where has this car been?

Venetian isn't dunkelblau. I'm including a premium for color in what I think the car might be worth. Maybe it's a shyte show underneath and I'm totally wrong. If not, I don't think I'm that far off. But the thing about bench racing in the marketplace is that it's all opinions until the car actually gets put up for sale AND sells.

Your $40k number is WAY off. A rusty and rough Dunkelblau car is not worth anywhere close to what a rust free Venetian blue car with complete service history from new is. Venetian is a beautiful color, and it too commands a premium. |
