Sell my high mileage 993 for 48K?
Gotta an offer from Scott at Classic Car Deals through a client for $48.5K for my 1995 993 silver 6spd coupe with 116K miles. Should I be suspicious? Don't get me wrong, it's a nice "driver" with no issues, and a new alternator and belts, but seems a little high. Anyone familiar with Scot from Classic Car deals? He had me email the title and is awaiting payment from his client to send to me. I'm guessing if I'm getting 48.5K, then this dealer probably got north of 50K for my car. Is something wrong? Should I nix this?

Not necessarily. I've got a similar 993 and I would say it's worth about mid 40s, possibly higher. Of course the dealer is going to mark up some, perhaps the potential buyer is willing to pay above market a couple thousand to avoid the hassle of searching for the car he wants.
If you're happy with the price then move forward with the deal. If you'd like a higher price sell it yourself and be patient. I'm not exactly sure what the current market is for '95 C2 (manual) coupes. Maybe I'm way off and they're selling in the 50s now...

Holy smokes! Are you kidding me? First of all your car has lie mileage! It’s a 993!!! D as would sell closer to 60G I would think. Sell from home.

![]() Okay, so maybe this will assist the OP, my car seems very similar: 114,000 miles, 1995 C2 Manual. Very clean driver, great service history, clean Carfax but has been repainted at sometime in its past. I can’t believe that a Plain Jane C2 would pull in close to 60G.

116K is not high mileage...... $48 seems like there is a little more meat (15%ish) on the bone.....

Yep. And it sounds like this dealer has a “buy order” from someone. They’ve built their profit into their offer price.

Conventional wisdom says a dealer will never offer you more money than 15% off of fair market value.
They have to make money somehow. Also is 116k high mileage now? that's crazy talk.

Kansas,
Based on what everyone is saying I would tell the dealer that the offer is too low. Are you looking to move it - otherwise hold out for the price you want. I agree with the others, 116K is not high mileage on a Porsche. It's not exactly low mileage either but these aren't Ferraris.

If I really wanted to sell it I'd counter 55k and take 52k.

I don’t really want to sell it, but at the same time, I don’t think I’ll get an offer this high for several years. It’s a very nice looking driver, but has 116k miles and no engine work. It has a new alternator and belts, but no top end. And it weeps a little oil. I hear these engines have to be rebuilt at some point for like 20k.

All I can figure is that this Scot from Classic Car deals came across my craigslist ad over a year ago and a buyer came along. I have been sending pics and info since July. Heard nothing for 2 months and then this offer. Scot says the buyer already sent him the funds. No ppi, nothing. I’m really suspicious.

Sounds a little scammy. I'd check him out carefully and only accept cash or wires.
48 doesn't sound terrible if you're trying to sell and aren't getting offers. Why wouldn't you post the car here, or have you? Sent from my Nokia 7.1 using Tapatalk |

38 is fire sale or broken. 52 seems about right to me, could be higher or lower depending on condition and urgency

Sounds either like a gypsy flipper or someone looking to get info for some scamming that is why he wanted pictures and a copy of the title. He will use the copy of the title to scam someone else. If he had a buyer and the funds why has it been 4 months? Tell him to show up at your door with the cash and no more pictures or information until that happens. My guess is he will disappear now that he has the info he wants

Is this the place and the guy?
https://www.classiccardeals.com/Page/Meet-Our-Team.aspx If so it looks like one of those dealers that just advertises cars for sale that they find on line even without the owners consent and then if someone shows interest they contact the owner to try to get the car.

Wow all the "inventory" pictures look like they came from Craigslist. Definitely not anything that guy has in inventory.

Exactly that is what they do they just troll the internet for ads and then make believe they have the car in stock. If someone wants to buy it they contact the owner and act as a middleman without the owners knowledge
