It sounds like a gift and a hard lesson for some. 40k on a car he’s into for darn near 100? The color also happens to be pretty awesome which seems to add to the value lately IMO. That car will get snatched up quick at 40.

Sounds like the perfect person to buy from. I didn’t mean to imply it was a hard lesson for him personally. I was thinking of all the guys inquiring about cars in the 20-25k range. In most cases it costs more to get those things up and running than it will ever be worth or that you could buy an already sorted car for.

Couldn’t agree more. A well sorted car is usually gonna be a lot cheaper in the long run, even factoring in the higher initial purchase price. The only drawback to this car is the respray and updates that hurt originality. But all in all, I think it’s a solid deal.

I personally wouldn’t Ppi the car. I would just sell the 993 and buy the SC.

I think I still want to PPI my 993 to make the decision easier if my 993 ends up needing an expensive servicing. If on the other hand, the 993 passes with a good compression and leak down numbers, I might be inclined to keep it.

So you don't want to sell it? Because I wouldn't spend a cent on it if I was about to sell it to a dealer.

Only reason I'm tempted to sell is because I have been after this SC for 2 years and now it is available. I'm not trying to be a flake but I have really come to like this 993 and hate to part with it. That's why its a good time to do a PPI to see how badly I want to keep it. If I'm staring at a $10-15K for a top end or valve guide service, then I'm going to sell and buy the SC.

Finding an SC this nice at a price like that don't ever happen again your 993 is just an avg car and totally replaceable. You will regret letting this SC get away.

Just throwing in my 2 cents if this were me and I was ready to get out of the 993.

1. Buy the SC,
2. Sell the 993 to a private party for more that $48.5K,
3. Take the extra cash and pick up a cheap 996

I think 48k is the best I’m gonna do on my 993. It’s got 116k miles and no engine servicing as well as a leak

Fair enough, I don't claim to be an expert on the 993 market...plenty on here much smarter than me on that subject. Apologize if I missed this in earlier posts but have you had much seat time in a G body? My first 911 was an SC, currently drive a 3.2 and have learned to embrace the quirkiness of not only the car but the 915 transmission as well. That said, they are not for everybody including many of my friends who drive 964/993's which I completely understand. Different strokes for different folks
