Testing the waters 986 3.6 conversion
50 year PCA P-car enthusiast testing the water to see if anyone might be a player on my '03 986 S with 3.6L conversion. Black over tan. Coincidently both motor and chassis now have approx 93K. They were merged approx 20K ago when the orig 3.2 potentially spun a bearing on it its first and only track event on a hot day in July in CO.
This car is not a trailer queen but has great bones. Mostly original paint but due. 7/10. Will need a new top at some point. Paint is starting to show age (AZ car orig) Interior is an 8/10 and now has Recaros for seat. A/C blows cold, Cruise works, and will need a few minor bits. Religiously followed the Dempsey mantra of this conversion to the tune of $18K in labor and upgraded parts (in addition to $7500 for 64K 3.6 M96 motor). Compression tests at the time were 150PSI across the board and motor was boroscoped with no cylinder scoring. Does not use oil, smoke, nor use coolant. I avg 25MPG and I don't have a soft foot. Living at altitude means compensating but with another 50-60 HP, I can hang with many others. Upgrades: LN IMS, LN deep sump, under drive pulley, IMS mods, Pedro exhaust mod, induction, Recaros, GT3 motor mounts, new clutch/pressure plate, MY03 wheels, spacers, (looks sweet) and all new everything else typically required or prudent when motor out. This car has been bulletproof and has great (newish) brakes, tires. Oil changed regularly. (Driven) (Minor oil leak...but as a 911 owner, I just understand) I am only selling because I originally bought to track and then flip to fund the restoration of my 73 911. (now retired from track duty for 15 years...) I just didn't anticipate the 3.2 doing what it did...fast forward to today and the time has come for the Boxster to probably go find a new happy home. I know that someone could buy a high mileage 986S and then do the 3.6 for maybe a few thousand less, but this car is totally sorted. I really didn't want to sell but health and economic times are conspiring to put me back into a less physical car with an automatic. Pictures upon request. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1725329705.jpg |

I know Joe empirically thru PCA and as a former Porsche sales guy myself agree Joe would be good to contact. Thanks and sorry for the delay. Been on vaca... |
I start asking questions and floating feeler balloons a year or two before I actually sell a car. You do t owe any of us an explanation for taking your own sweet time. It’s all good, man.
