RSR Hat Value

I’m helping a friend, who is finally looking to sell some of his “stuff” , some of which he has been holding on since he started racing Porsche’s in the late sixties, early seventies.
Let’s start off with some Brake Hats

Not sure how many he has, as he has stuff stored in multiple locations.

Why do people store parts in a swamp, then try to sell them without even trying to clean them up? Why not just light your money on fire and save the rest of us the trouble?

You are lack reading comprehension skills or are do you just like being a A-hole?? It’s Dick’s like you that give Porsche drivers a bad rap. He started his racing career in the early 70, ie, he isn’t a “Spring Chicken”, his mobility is very poor and he has never let too many people on his property. I’ve known him since the 80s and he needs my assistance to figure out what is where. I posted the question on here, because besides the flippers, scammers and A-holes, I have found a solid knowledge base. People like him and others like him here, don’t want people bugging him (that’s where I come in handy) and when he put those and other stuff old race bits in his garage, it was fairly new, over the decades, and the fact there is a lot of trees on his property, being in Florida, branches or trees sometimes fall on or through the roofs (I have been dealing with roofers today, as I went out to my shop to finish packing up a few things that I am shipping out, to find water in the back of my shop, only to see a pine branch had pierced the roof over my Jag, so yes, I am short tempered and have a get that fixed ASAP as Hurricane season is approaching.

I see the post and have a very different response to it. I assume he’s wondering if they are worth enough to bother cleaning them up and marketing them. It’s not a FS thread it’s a what’s the market thread.

In all seriousness, do you even know what car model they are for? That would likely help some.

Well, at one time he owned Pete Gregg’s factory 75, RSR, one of the last factory RSR ,traded that for a 910,has owned and raced a lot of different Porsche race cars over the years and driven with some well known owner/drivers in significant races. One of the reasons I am posting this is to see if anyone recognizes the hats.I’m down with making back and knee right now, so I can’t go move the stuff around to get to them. I saw them when I was lifting one of his BMW bikes that fell on one of his other bikes after the rear tire went flat. The bikes are another project that I have to deal with for him.

Some of what he still owns.

He still owns IMSA and Trans Am cars and a crap load of German street cars.

That's an impressive photo lineup to be sure... I might consider reaching out to Jerry Woods or Bruce Canepa here in CA with an email and some decent photos if you think they are special... You might need 4 of them, rotor diameter, stud offset, some details, and something of substance not just throwing some crap against the wall.

You are the Tiger King of Porsche parts By, I always love to see your wares. Can we see the pine branch that compromised your Jag by coming through the shop roof?

Or was it the carport roof?

Here you go, I need to move the Jag out and get a 4 post lift as that corner will be storing a couple of special cars.
Adam may have a idea on what those could be.

Funny how people say, when a question like this is asked in the classified section, why not ask in the correct forum, this pretty much answers why people don’t. I have to laugh at the fact that the asshat with dumbass comment, accusing somebody on another thread, trying to pad his post count
Kinda reminds me of when of when I was moving stuff from the shop we had at the Ex’s Some family property we had. I stopped to get gas, driving my old Suburban 2500 4x4,featherlite or Trailer World aluminum trailer, loaded with Porsche wheels and other parts. In the suburban, I had a few transmissions, a couple of 915s, a 901 and a low mileage 930, plus the fresh twin pug with 46 Webers, 3.0, a 2.7 and a couple of 914 2.0 engines.
So I’m fueling up ,a guy in a Boxster pulled up at the pump next to me. I was minding my own business, checking the load and he said
Quote:
looks like Porsche wheels, bet you wish you owned one
I just ignored him since clearly he’s a A-Hole.
That and the fact that the 3.0 was worth more than his car and I probably had more money in the engine than he paid for it. I just chuckled and left.
I didn’t think anymore about it, then a month so later, I was at my club and a friend of mine comes up and says that he has a friend who just bought a Porsche and needs some advice and parts, me being laidback, saying no problem, like most of us, I enjoy talking Porsche. He tells me that he will bring his friend up Friday. So Friday comes and I’m off in my regular spot, I’ve looking the River and my friend calls my name and proceeds to introduce me to his friend, he told the guy that I had been into Porsche’s for years and owned some really cool cars and played on the racetrack.
When I turned around, he brought the “Boxster Leaser” who told me that I wish I owned a Porsche like his.
I bluntly said “he can’t afford anything I have “ and walked away.
My friend later asked me why I
acted like that, I said, he didn’t tell you that he met me at a gas station last month?

Matt, you are the Go Too Guy when I have any transmission and LSD questions, be it public or a PM, you always step up to offer your experienced opinion. I really appreciate your help on those matters.

If you have to ask, you already know the answer...

Kind of like when someone asks, "Do you know who I am?"

Does that ever go their way?
