Matt.... Clutch Question..
What is the difference between Single and Dual Mass?
Thanks. |
A dual mass flywheel is designed to dampen NVH better, at the cost of weight. A single mass flywheel is designed to allow for quicker revving and shifting by reducing the rotating mass.

Thanks Matt
What is NVH? |
noise, vibration and harshness
|
They dampen the drivetrain, typically using springs sandwiched inside the flywheel. As Matt says, they are heavy MFers.

Thanks for the education.

Anytime.
From a performance standpoint it’s free horsepower. It’s mass the engine doesn’t have to din. In my experience it also makes it easier to blip for a double clutch rev match downshift. |
Hah. I always heard/read the H was for harshness. Education, indeed.

All good.
