I've been a member for a number of years. When I first started coming here I found it a great resource for parts and selling stuff. Now it seems it mostly scammers!!! Or is it just me???
Can't something be done to verify members or at least an attempt. Guess I'm just frustrated....

It's not just you, everything is on marketplace now. Hard to wheel and deal without using social media (I will never join) so I'm left paying full retail or in person swap meet/ what's left on craigslist.

Long timers have thousands of posts and know who's who in the zoo. Just ask. It's a good chance somebody here will know who you're asking about.

I thought about this when I was going to buy or sell something, don't remember which. At the time I asked a local shop I use to act as an escrow agent of sorts. They agreed, just a thought.

I bought a really nice late-70s leather dashboard from a fellow Pelicanite last month. Price was fair, transaction was smooth.

If you have the goods, and ask reasonable prices, you can sell stuff right here without much fuss. Buyers still need to know who they're dealing with, so caveat emptor, but at least it's not the wild west like f'in FB marketplace.

I have had people apparently pass themselves off as me and scam some here. I was inquiring about something on rennlist yesterday and was confronted by another scammer. The good old days are just a memory. Social media, AI and all the BS hype is ruining everything that was so great about this hobby.

Stick with those that are members for a long time and have posts otherwise Beware.
