Valuation of restored 73 S Targa
I have a 73 S Targa I am considering selling. Engine is non numbers matching but is a correct 2.4 S motor, Engine and MFI are completely rebuilt. Car has sport seats, TTG fog lights, fresh paint (excellent), , factory color (black), interior is very nice (new factory door& map pockets, all work is fully documented (about 70K worth). Car looks and drives like new. Asking prices are all over the map just curious where you folks think market is today.

Phil,
I would say in the mid to high $60s given the condition of the car. Here is a white 73S matching Targa [2000hr restoration] that was posted on early S & Ebay for what seemed like forever getting down to $79,900. I believe the starting price was $99,000. http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25728 Luke

I don't see a non-numbers matching Targa, even with an S motor, selling in the mid to high 60's in this market. Car sounds very nice and has great options and a rare color, but still a Targa (even though an S) without the original motor. I think in this environment, for a normal sale, I would expect somewhere in the $40-$50k range.

Boy this got me in trouble the last time I commented this way.
IMO, The Otto's car is in need...... Phil's car, from what I saw of it, is very complete like the white targa attached. W/ that being said the Otto's car might be a very nice purchase but would need extensive {$$$$} restoration to attain the levl of Phil's.

While I haven't seen Otto's 73S Targa in person, from the photos I would tend to agree that it would need a full restoration to bring it to the level that Phil has described for his car. That being said, I just don't think the current market supports a $60k+ price for Phil's car, as nice as it may be.

Phil,
I recently sold a 73S targa, silver (new paint) over green leather by Tony at Autobahn w/ sport seats and nos houndstooth inserts, new carpet and targa top, uncracked dash. Engine was 2.7 spec (fresh) weber'd, w/ $13K of receipts on the engine. Fuchs by Al Reed, rebushed suspension, new koni's, corner balanced and aligned. Rebuilt pedal cluster, gas tank flushed, new brakes. I sold it for $45K Here's a couple of pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice car Phil. Best of Luck.
I would have thought somewhere around $50k ... bit under ....would be fair. You don;t see a lot of black cars, and they seem to be popular .... Euro Locators have a nice looking targa at $48,5 that needs a few things ![]() Karl.
