Longhood: Parting vs. Complete Sale

I'd like to hear some experienced opinions regarding parting out a 73 T versus selling it in its entirety. It is not a numbers matching car but it does have great paint and no rust on the tub. The drive train is fresh. Rebuilt mag case 5 speed 915 and a 78 3.0 engine.

Any ballpark figures on selling it as a whole?

I know parting out can be a pain, but I don't want to discuss that. I'm just interested in some cold hard numbers for now. It seems to me that the car should be worth much more in parts, but how realistic is it to sell of the entire car in parts?

I own a 1973.5T and I would never consider parting out now that the longhoods have reached a nice level of popularity. With the tub not rusted and having a great paint job your already ahead of the curve! Forget the lack of matching numbers, the car sounds overall to be in "good" condition. You did not say whether is was the 73.5T with CIS or the MFI model.
Either way, from what you describe its at least 20K. Parting out? Only if it did not run and was half way in the grave...................

Why is it that so many start threads asking for an opinion on price for an item or a car yet fail to post a pic?

It is hard enough to render a realistic value with a picture posted, all things considered.. however, rendering a value based on ones description is oft times futile as what you describe as clean may rough in another's eye and vice-versa!

In other words.. post pics with these requests!

If you click on "garage" below the avatar there is a picture of a car probably the one we are talking about. Currently it is tough finding someone with enough cash to purhase a non original whole car at once but unless you need cash asap and have to sell cheap, I don't see a significant pot of gold waiting at the end of a long PITA part out. btw if you do need cash asap I'm interested

Well, thanks for the PM's and replies. It seems it would be fiscally wise to keep it together. So, I've decided just to keep it together and enjoy it.

Keep the funky '73-only rubber bumper guards. Someday they'll be rare, and no one will know what they are!
