unloading a project, which way would you go?
I have a project 1978 911SC that I am going to have to sell to raise money for another long term project I am taking on.
Here are some details. The chassis has about 90,000 miles on it, and I believe it was in a rear end accident at one time. I will not sell the car without disclosing this information. Measurements on the car show it is straight now. I have 16X 7 and 8 inch fuchs for the car. One of the 8's has some road rash though. One of the PO's couldn't park I guess ![]() I have a 1976 915 transmission with 60,000 miles on it. And a 1989 3.2L engine broken down, and ready for the machine shop. I have all the new parts to rebuild the engine except main bearings and rod bolts. I'm sure there will be a couple other small parts that are needed, but gaskets, oil lines, new hardware, carrera external oil cooler, new clutch etc have already been purchased. As I see it I have four options with the car. 1. Part it out. I've done this before and know what is involved. I don't mind doing the work, at all. The advantage with this method is that I believe I would get the most dollar wise for the car. It is difficult to break this car up though it is a nice one though. 2. I could sell it as a roller. It is missing a few parts, but nothing major. Taillight housings with lenses and rear quarter windows. Some other misc. parts but nothing substantial. 3. I could backdate it and sell it as a roller. I have all the parts to do a backdate except a rear rs bumper. Front fenders and hood are steel, fiberglass RS front bumper. 4. Finish the car and sell as an RS clone with the 3.2L and 915 installed. Do you guys have any thoughts or suggestions? Money is definetly an issue, and a serious consideration in dertermining the direction I take. Currently I am leaning towards 1 or 3. With 2 as the least likely. Pink carpet is also avaliable to anyone interested ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would should for # 2 with a self imposed timeline and if not sold then off to #1
I don't think you'll see any "real" ROI on #s 3 & 4.. considering the time you'll spend and the cash you'll burn... and it puts your other long term project that much further back! I'm just say'n

Thanks for your opinion, and ideas. I like the self emposed timeline for selling it as a complete roller. I still have some time to think about it. I'm not too worried about wasting time on the SC vs the new project. Cheers, Rich

The new project is a 1969 911E. Going to be a very long term project with complete repaint and total refresh of all components.
