SWB Market - driver price range?
I'm thinking of re-joining the ranks of Porsche owners, and my favorites have always been the early short-wheelbase cars. Checking the market, cars seem all over the place in terms of condition. What should I expect to get in a 1966-1968 911 for $15-$20k, non-S? Just looking for a presentable driver - decent paint, solid floors, running engine, though if I could get a piece of art work from Freddie Hernandez in that price range, I'd be thrilled.

I bought a 68 911 normal last Oct. for 26K. A solid no rust driver with new paint. Needed interior and the engine smoked on decel (needs top end O/H). Numbers matching, alloys, rebuilt suspension with Bilsteins.

I started out thinking I'd get a 912, but prices I've seen made me think I could get a 911 for the money. I've seen 912 advertised for $20k-$40k. I'm mostly just looking to get a feel for things before Hershey in April. The other problem is that some dastardly villain seems to have painted 90% of the SWB cars in the US a bright red, so I often have to factor in a repaint. ![]()

I got my 68 in 2007 for $11.5 k but I got a screamin deal, 18-20k for a nice one is more realistic.
