WTF $48k Ugly 1978 slant targe at BJ

I just watched the Barrett Jackson coverage on Speed as a horrible 78 slant nose wide body, cooling finned, boxed rocker targa was hammered away at $48,000. I can't believe it would even bring stock SC money amazing

I'm surprised you maintained consciousness long enough to report the horrible deed . . .

Boy is that ugly, with the round exposed headlights slantnose style. Yuk. It did have only 11500 original miles is why it went for so much.

The people that were young in the 80s are getting into some money. I remember drooling over a white slant nose convertible when I was 13 ...

If it had 11500 aftermarket miles on it, it would have gone for much less.

The links are not working correctly.
Those are the P-Cars (or pseudo P-Cars) at the auction.

I pulled the same list ...

I dunno. I just copied/pasted from the BJ site. Go there and search "Porsche" in the auto list.

Have you seen some of the people bidding on cars there? I have (in person). Living examples of money vs. brains vs. taste. Apparently, you cannot possess all three to register to bid.

I thought the same thing after attending the Palm Beach auction last year. Regular, run-of-the-mill (and "incorrect") cars were going for $$$. Someone could make a nice living buying/cleaning up/auctioning not-so-great cars there.

I wonder what the seller had to pay in grease money to get his car in the auction?

they didnt say much i guess they ddnt know about porsches one thing he did say was maintinence was killer on these cars lol. I wonder if it went for so much because it was a factory slantnose targa? Those are very rare right? especially with that low miles. But obviously it was just some righ guy that bought the car for his kid. Its gonna be a nightmare with that low miles and deteriorating cis and all the updates a driven car would already have.
