Gentlemen,
Today I've looked at what appears to be a very good deal. This is a 1976 911 with a 3.2 L engine recently converted to a 3.6 with new pistons, 996 cams, and many other improvements and has less than 4000 miles on it. The car is scary fast! I had to ask the guy to slow down when he gave me a ride. I estimate the 0-60 is in the 4 sec. or below range. This is owned by a friend of a friend whom I know to be a legit collector and restorer of 356's, 914's, 911's and many other cars. He has offered the car a very low price to me. It has Recaro power seats, front oil cooler, 9's and 11's Fuchs, steel flared fenders, and generally is in very good condition. There needs to be some paint work done on the front fenders, the seat electrics are not hooked up, and there is some other minor detail work to be done. Overall though this looks like a very good deal. I've attached a few pictures. What do you think this car is worth? Thanks Fred ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'd be after the silver 6 in the garage.
Those wheels are worth some money if they're 15's. |

I question the 400hp. Stock 3.6 964s make 250hp I believe. I believe it is fast. You rode in it. Could it be gears? Will it pass smog? Sorry to be so doubtful, but it sounds like the kind of BS I used to hear in the High School parking lot.
Nice looking car however. Good luck, Larry |

There are a lot of suspicious looking issues from the few pictures you posted and your description. In the pictures the engine appears to be a stock looking 84-89 3.2. I think these can be bored out to 3.4, but am unaware of many people taking them to 3.6. Even if you could take them to 3.6, you would have really thin cylinder walls. In any case, no way do you take a 3.2 to 400 HP without forced induction. The car appears to have 930 flares, but even so those do not look like 11 inch width wheels in the rear - they sit way too far inside the flares. Also, those seats do not add any value to the car IMO. And further, no way this car does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Sounds like someone is blowing a lot of smoke your way.

Thanks for the feedback. I took another look today and while all looks legit, I think I'm going to pass. While this car is much much faster than my 3.0L, I've got the car I want and it is far to sweet to sell.

Thats a very stock looking 3.2 and there is no way it could make a reasonable 400hp or do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. As mentioned the body proportions look way off in the photo. There is nothing there that would make me believe the claims or want to buy that car unless the price was silly low.

10K unless you can find receipts for the motor work complete with part numbers..... it is what it could be parted out for....
Cheers

That was exactly the # I was thinking as well for the same reasons, but as I indicated I've decided to pass. Thank you Jeff for responding directly to the original question!

I agree with Bill. Looks like a bone stock 3.2 to me. An no 3.2, even if it was bumped to 3.6 is going to make 400hp without a turbo or supercharger strapped to it. And even that will take some serious work.
