Value of 2004 GT3 - Speed Yellow, 7K miles; no track; 1 owner
 

Guys:

I am thinking of selling my 2004 GT3. I bought it new when I lived in San Diego from a dealership in Dallas and drove it back to San Diego. The car has been only used for an occasional drive. It has never been tracked and is 100% original. It is in perfect condition and has only about 7,000 miles on it. It isn't even dirty underneath. No dings, no smoking, no scratches, no repairs, no wear on the interior -- the car really is in showroom condition. It still smells new. I own it outright -- no loan balance.

Currently, I am living in northern NJ (near Morristown) and really don't get to drive it at all around here. The car has barely seen rain (since the day I picked it up in Dallas!) and never any snow.

I would appreciate anybody's thoughts on a realistic price that I might consider selling it.

Sounds like a pretty nice example. I haven't followed GT3 prices lately, but I guess a pristine 6GT3 could be a $65-75K car? I know the "glut" of 997 GT3s may hurt your market a bit because many will think a 6GT3 should be worth less than a 7GT3.

Could always stop by highmarques near the (morisstown) courthouse and see what they think it might be worth.

I think the GT3 market is has stayed fairly strong (considering the economy). The limited build of the series helps.

I know the option list on these are limited, but does it have any options?

There was a good article in Excellence (996 vs 997 GT3) which actually put the 996 GT3 on top due to a more raw/visceral overall "feel."

The Boxster front end is the only detractor (IMHO) for these early GT3's, and they don't share the myriad of engine issues (mainly IMS/RMS failures) that the regular 996/997 series seem to have.

I'd guess a low of around $60k to the mid $60k's or so. I hope they depreciate more in the future (sorry), I'd love to pick up a GT3 if they ever depreciate to "commoner" status!

I just check on a few used '04 GT3's, and I think I undervalued your prisine example a bit. I'd say that yellow is a nice GT3 color (add a few thousand) and that the extremely low miles adds another few thousand. I'd ask $70k and get at least $65k. I looked at examples for $49k (29k miles), $51k (14k miles), $55k (24k miles), $59k (32K miles), $62k (23K miles), and $72k (20k miles). Your GT3 seems to easily better these and it's in an interesting color to boot.

I was thinking about taking it over the shop in Morristown, but I would like to avoid dealers, especially here in NJ.

I would hate to sell it (heck I've hardly driven it!), but as they say in the business world "Cash Is King."

2004 Porsche GT-3 Coupe

There's a yellow one here in Denver at the Ferrari dealership. They've been trying to sell it at that price for more than a month now.
