Late SC for $36k? Maybe.
FS: the nicest 911SC available.
Low miles like that might offer a different set of challenges. $36k seem a little stout for that car, but at least the number is "firm", so we'll see how the market responds. I'm interested and am going to keep watching this car. |

I believe that's a fair price, I mean really, the buyer is getting the car for around the same sticker price it was 30 years ago, so if you look at it that way it's a bargain.

No way. Too many mods and new "nice white clocks".
The dark green SC from The LA dealer Velocity is now 39999 up from 35000. That looks like a nice car. But pricey. |

All those modifications can be easily reversed. It's probably a bit high but it's difficult to price these really low mileage examples anymore, I imagine.

It does seem modifications tend to detract..... also think the A/C delete hurts.... Given my own 83SC ownership .... I hope he gets the money

Overall it looks to be an exceptional car and well presented. I think given enough time the car will sell for that or very close. It hits the trifecta of well documented, low miles and desirable/timeless color combo. Add in sport seats and you have a winner.
With that said most of the mods are period/example correct and wouldn't hurt values at all (H4's, 7's & 8's, euro ride height etc). It does have a few mods that I think the seller would create more appeal by changing back to stock, such as: - white face gauges, go back to black - install an Period correct Blaupunkt - install the AC components, even if he doesn't go as far as making it all work, it should be all there. - install an OEM 915 shift knob - install an OEM horn pad w/o the gold crest - exhaust, I would take it back to stock and sell off the aftermarket setup. For top dollar your buyers are likely Europeans and they usually need stock exhaust to pass their inspections. The only other drawback to the car is the factory rear spoiler. It helps greatly that its correct per the CofA and window sticker, however the current market favors non-spoiler cars. Overall, it's a nice car I wouldn't mind owning and appears well loved. Low mileage nice SC's are scarce so I would wish the seller well. |

I have a hard time seeing a white one go for that just yet. Maybe in another year, but right now I don't think the market is that hot.

That is a dang nice car....will be interesting to see if it sells. If anyone has knowledge of sale let us know.
I also think it will be interesting to see what this high mileage well presented car will go for: 83 chiffon /brn 911sc coupe Obviously been upward movement of P-car prices in 2013. This past weekend I read two different articles about older cars, rising prices, and folks having money to buy/restore/modify after a lull in the business. Not P-car specific but maybe a general uptick in classic car industry. I once used to store a car at an old mans property....he had over 100 vintage cars. It was his retirement plan. That and guns. |

I am surpised that you all seem so positive on this car and the price. There have been nicer SC's that were set substantially lower, where many members said that the seller would never get the asking.
I have a hard time beliving the virginity of this car, double exhausts, white gauges and all. But the seats are very nice! |

I would have said no way but then considering Mr Apples stuck to his guns and somehow got someone to part with 32k for a white MY Targa, 1974 Porsche 911 targa
... 60k miles so that was at the point it probably needed a re build, it makes the SC look like a good deal. Like everyone else said I think it would sell quicker as an original 'survivor. Comparing it to Dgriz's Olive 79 SC Targa which I think had over 100k miles and is now priced at $35k if it were a cool period color he'd probably get his asking price all day long. I know there was a low mile minerva blue SC survivor for sale somewhere recently which I think was asking low thirties, but I think that car had about 30k miles ? Anyone else remember the Ferrari Bubble, or the muscle car bubble ...

Problem is the ad straddles the border of trying to appeal to the porsche clsssic buyer and someone who would buy it to show the car as a 'survivor'. The reality that its presents as a car thats been messed with, and is not a rare color. White Guages, steering wheel emblem, air scoop (good idea) non OEM radio, muffler and the rest make it confusing
Sport Seats and Factory LSD are very nice options though.

I had an SC in similar shape & condition, that sold for a lot less 2 years ago. Hope Dave get's his price, it could be a new high for an SC. Put on some new rubber caps on the door switches...
My issue is for that kind of money it opens up a lot of other model possibilities. You would have to really want an SC...

I see no issue with that, especially if when, who and how it was done is documented in the reciepts. Mods don't add value, but bolts ons don't by default make the history of a car questionable.

All in all a car that have had mods is worth less to me, even if they unbolt - tells me about the PO's priorities. |

One of the issues is that the market is not entirely transparent. We get to see what prices these cars are offered at but we don’t really know what price they trade at.
I am not speaking about anyone in particular but we all see the odd car that’s priced well above the general market. Then the seller posts that the car is sold. Somehow they find the need to tell people it sold for that huge premium to the market. It’s the internet we get it. Personally the SC in this thread appears to be a nice car. Its not worth the premium to the market for me but hey great for the seller if he gets his price.

Ah.....I call that car bluff. The interior is always the weak link in pictures. But nice try by the seller.
