Early 911 AC Parts
Questions about the value of a complete early 911 underdash AC system.
One system is complete but unknown condition on compressor. Also have a DPC style underdash unit. Will include a few pictures. Curious what this is worth. I will put it on the Parts section but need a idea of value? Thanks, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi
It's my understanding, what you show is a dealer installed ....by the larger vent section under the dash. The factory installed can be worth more.
I say it's a tuff sell, it just does not work period. Runs on old freon, never worked because many problems the least being only one confenser under the rear deck. Factory had two condensers... Maybe $100 ......most want factory systems and in time most long hoods removed the AC because it's old, ugly, does not work, and does not hurt the cars value. My 2 cents, only here |

Thanks for the reply
I appreciate the input. Not sure I totally agree but that would be expected as I want to sell the parts huh?
What I do know is that if you have a early 911 and you live in the south and you want AC there were no factory installed systems until 1974 (I think). I had one of these early underdash systems in a 914 with a great big old 2.0 95hp motor that did a great job of cooling the car down once the piston compressor was replaced with one of the new small rotary compressers. You are probably right that the purists will not go for it but if you want to drive the car in the summer these systems will cool the car very well and all the parts are here and it is in fantastic condition. |
