Why? Well, first of all I am a huge fan of the original SWB and I even love the tea tray tail turbos if functional. I'm also a fan of 60's Ferraris and particularly the nose. I'm also a fan of 208 mph in 1986, so when I got the opportunity to collect one of these a few years back I did. It's also fun to have something that nobody else in the neighborhood has, even if she isn't so beautiful. I must admit that I'm in no hurry to get her back on the road as I'd rather spend my time on some other stock 911s. I also owned an Alfa RZ, one of 271 from the early 90s and enjoyed her very much. She was nicknamed "Il Monstros," but none the less accomplished 1.2 to 1.4 G s on the skid pad on stock rubber. The 3.0 engine with that suspension kept up with experienced drivers in 996s on a very serious mountain course. Its fun to experience various cars and also to be a bit different. I also remember my old Lambo Miura from 1967 which used lots of trim pieces from the lowly 850 Fiat. I kick myself for passing on an early to mid seventies 911 with a custom nose with bulbous headlights in the position where the turn signals usually reside. That car was cheap at the time and in retrospect I consider that I should have had a more open mind.

Everything is perfect except the color. Ought to be in white. The slightly sportier version of a pimp-mobile.

I like it! I'll bet that those 80s type cars will begin to rise in value.

996 Turbos are awesome. 930s are very sweet and beautiful. However, if you take your 930 or 996TT to a Porsche gathering you are just one of many. As much flak as LS1 conversions get, they will stir more conversations and gather bigger crowds. The ugly ducklings of Koenig and others will also garner more interest, some of it of course negative, but none the less, gather a biggest crowd. A slow 356 bent window in ratty condition will also be a focal point of the gathering. A 951 turbo track ready with a simple 350 hp 4 cylinder, or a slightly moded 928 also break up the sameness and instigate interesting conversation.

Personally the front works for me. The rear... Have to think about it. The rear roof spoiler: Lose it! You really don't want to change something like this though. It is a bit history. |

There was quite a bit of money dropped on pimping out 911s (instead of going up peoples' noses) in the 80s.

Here is another.
"Car needs a few minor items to make it complete. When complete this car will bring 50,000 plus (my reserve is less than a 1/3 of that)" |

Funny how that car ended up in Mankato, MN, a small farm community in southern Minnesota.

Ok, I didn't think it could go downhill from here, now I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...
