'67 911s chassis find - info?

Greetings everyone,

My boss has the opportunity to pick up a few project cars and the most notable is what I believe to be a '67 911s chassis and am hoping someone here could help to verify that and get an idea of the value etc.

Unfortunately the car is not complete and at some point was converted to later style body work etc. I have only seen a crappy cell phone picture of it but should have something I can post tomorrow, here is what I know so far:

VIN# *308043S*
Engine missing and presumed not available.
Transmission missing, but some transmissions are available and may be able to find it.
Long hood and front fenders converted to later style (not sure if fiberglass or steel).
Fiberglass rear wide body flares
Rear suspension converted to aluminum arms
front suspension/brakes appear to be stock

I'll get more details and some pictures tomorrow~
Thanks!
J

Pics of the car~ Also a 1973 TE found~

Greetings everyone,

I set up an account for our shop so I could post a few pics. As I said pics are not great but once we get it back to the shop will get better ones.

Also identified that the 1973 Targa which is there is a T-E that started life as an MFI car, it is pretty rough but is it worth bringing it home too? May start a different thread for that one.

Thanks
J

Here is the 67s~

Haha yes Budge96 - we are all over it and won't be passing on this deal!

I have had several inqueries on the car so I wanted to post a bit more information. Right now the cars are awaiting transport to our shop which will probably be 1-2 more weeks, but should have them before Thanksgiving.

Right now we are taking offers on the cars but until we have them back at our shop and can properly evaluate them we will not make a final decision as to starting the restoration ourselves or selling them as-is. That said here is a bit more info and a few more pictures of said cars:

1967 S Coupe - all known info/pictures so far posted above

1973 T-E Targa - This appears to be a very solid car, just missing most of the original goodies as it was converted to later model bodywork so long hood/fenders missing, front fenders gone rear appears to have RSR type body work and some sort of custom interior. As the story goes the car was said to have been used in or owned by Don Johnson/Miami Vice, but can not verify this story. Did some searching and it look like nothing used in the show so may have been one of Don's personal cars - again - all unverified, just the story behind it.

1975 S Coupe - Appears to be a complete with all original parts, fenders, wheels etc. although showing quite a bit of rust, even some through the roof but could make a great restoration project or track car.

1977 Targa - Rough car - we will probably just strip any remaining good parts from this car and either scrap the shell or donate it to a good home. A-piller was cut and welded back on etc. Probably won't waste time with pictures unless requested.

Here are a few pictures of the 73 T-E~

Got the cars home!

Greetings everyone,

We finally got the cars back to our shop yesterday and have had a chance to clean the garbage out of them to see what we've got. Since we have a few to many projects to take on right now we are probably going to sell all the cars we got as our parking lot is completely full at the moment. There is the '67s, a '73 t-e, and a '77s. All are rollers with no engines/transmissions.

The '67 is pretty much as we figured, the fender flares are actually steel flares, not fiberglass. The car has been outside so rust has gotten the better of most of the low areas of the car so it will need floor pans etc. Steering box is currently not hooked up or inop. i'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking~ It will take some work to get it back together, but it is a first year "S" car chassis so it will be worth it!

The '73 started life as a t-e MFI car but has had extensive fiberglass work including speedster flares, slope nose fenders and a turbo tail. Overall the car is very solid with little rust, pictures in the next post.

The '77s is the car which we originally thought was a 75 and is the most complete of the bunch with much of the interior, guages etc. all there. Check out the pictures and let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks!

Value?

So I guess I'll open mouth and insert foot but my 2 cents is tha t
without original engine and trans, I cannot see much "value". There's old and then there is just plain junk...then there is rusted out hulk junk. Seems you found the latter. Add the original engine with matching numbers then you have something worth saving.

Everyone's $.02 are welcome! That's why I posted it! I can't say I really disagree with you on that It will take a lot of work to get it back together and if it wasn't a '67s probably wouldn't be worth it... but with a proper doner car and a lot of elbow grease it could certainly be greased lightning again one day~
We actually have a great doner car in mind already which should be at our shop in a few weeks which is complete less the motor so if someone is interested I could work that into the deal as well~
We have ordered a COA from Porsche on the car to see how it was originally equipped and should have it in a few weeks.
Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Looks like according to the date codes we have the transmissions for the 73 and the 77 and will include them in the sale if needed.
Thanks!

that's alarming, what is so unique about that rust bucket? $25k and still going? unless there's something we dont know, can't say it's worth even messing with it

What is unique...the title and the vin. Someone will buy that POS and 'make' a new Speedster. Same with the above 67S. These cars won't be 'saved' in the traditional sense...only their vin stampings will be.

Now that 67Ses and Speedsters have become blue chip cars expect to see the 73RS epidemic. In other words non long hood S 911s will be made into a 's' complete with a legit cars vin etc.

The 25K Plus buys the data plate with the vin. number for a Porsche speedster. A regular speedster is 150-250K and the Carrera Speedsters or over 450K to who knows? Some one will make a car with the vin. number which makes it "real" and throw the rest away.
I think it turns in to a 'Grandpa's axe" kind of story, changed the head three times and the handle five times.
These 1967 911S's are in the 120 -200K cars now and there is a lot more to work with than that speedster.
Then again we could be playing musical chairs and some one will lose.
