Need help on two barn finds
Need help with some rough values. 81 sunroof SC coupe. No motor no gas tank no transmission. Interior out put is stated to all be present. Light damage right rear fender. Basically a roller or a parts car. Throw some figures at me as to what it might be worth. A more complete inspection pending.
-next a 86 cabriolet . No rats nest on motor- drive train complete, interior tired,no roof again waiting on weather to drag them out for better look. Values -motor as is- motor turn over- motor crank. Thanks |

No pics, hard to judge.
$3-5k for SC roller, depending on state of interior, wiring harness, body damage, glass. Does it have serviceable Fuchs wheels? Cab is a huge crapshoot. $8-10k as a parts car. Toward the higher end if the motor runs. A cab tub isn't worth much because it has no real value as a track car. Even a ragged car with solid body panels and core mechanicals has a floor value of around $8k for disassemblers. Check the prices on the Used Parts classifieds and you will get a sense of the money to be made parting out 911s. But labor isn't free.

Values
SC - $3k +/- This tub might have value as a track car base if the rear hit is not bad.
'86 Cab - $8k +/- If the Cab has not been hit and is not rusty it could be "brought back," but it would probably be expensive. These were expensive cars when new, it would be odd for a nice bodied '86 cab to sit in a garage for a decade (without internal/external damage) without an interesting story... |

It looks like you're thinking about investing in these two cars. Go for it. But one work of advice that goes against a lot of what gets thrown around on this board: Don't count on selling the chassis as a "track car." Sure a coupe chassis would make a great track car, but there is no shortage of galvanized coupe chassis around for the few people who actually make an investment in a dedicated "track car." I feel this option gets tossed around far too often and I know a number of people who have been stuck staring at a completely stripped tub in their garage because the track car guys never materialized.
Other than that, the above stated values are probably close to accurate. Be sure to take a step back and determine that most of the parts you see are sellable. We've had cars that were so crappy everything you unbolted turned out to be a turd. - Matt
