Whats the story with mid year prices?

I love the look and frequently interesting colors of the midyear cars and check prices every now and then. Is it just me or is the market for these confusing? I feel like dealers sometimes mistake them for longhoods and price them accordingly, in the 40s and up. Then I see nice ones like this Porsche Other | eBay that will likely get bid up to the high 20s low 30s. I understand the issues and fixes associated with the 2.7. I understand that the bodies were partly or in cases totally galvanized. Other than that what really makes these cars that different than SCs? Should we expect prices for the interesting looking ones to be at parity or in excess of sc prices?

Any theories for how these are trending?

All bets are off with all the aircooleds right now. Too much dumb free money flying around and too many self proclaimed Porsche experts.

Its just their time in the sun. All the good long hoods are now gone and or overpriced for their condition. Mid years have the narrow body early look unlike SC's and they drive like a dream compared to a long hood. All 2.7 issues have probably been solved by now. The best is a 77 with power brakes. Well sorted CIS 2.7's are glorious engines. The bass sends chills up my spine every time i drive mine

Remember that Carrera was a different body (flared fenders) then 911 and 911S. 2.7 CIS motors are all the same, but the Carrera still gets a premium. MFI cars are through the roof, and it's helping the CIS pricing too.
