I found an ad for a 1975 911s no motor, I have not gone to see it because it's about 1k miles from my house and I can't get the owner to tell me what he's asking for it, he just says make me an offer, I did say 3k$ one time contingent on condition and he just snapped back NO again not even giving a hint what he was looking for, tell me what ya think.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1391375996.jpg

Waste of time...meaning the owner. If he's not going to put a price out there, and it's that far from your house, forget about it...


Look for a cleaner car in San Diego. Best scenario this thing is worth $4500 and then you have to waste days getting it back to your house (costs $$$), and then you have a midyear with no engine.

Even though the tub looks pretty good, it's not really a sought after model year and how many miles are on the tub?

Just think about all the components that will need to be replaced. The engine is a biggie, but it doesn't stop there. The transmission probably needs to be rebuilt and it will probably need paint and an interior. The Axles/CV's, brakes, oil tank could be trashed, etc., etc...

Even if you did all the labor yourself a full restoration on this car would not be a whole lot cheaper than, say a '72 911S or E, which would probably be worth north of $100k restored these days.

A car like that has to be picked up cheap or you will quickly be upside down in the 911 resale market. It looks like a nice blue and it does not have a sunroof, but unless the seller works with you on price you really don't know what he would want. With some of the impact bumper hype going round these days he might think it's a $10,000 car as it sits.

Get the seller to commit to a reasonable price before you travel 1k miles to look at it - or move on.
